This years player of the year ward will be anounced in Zurich, Switzerland on January 9, 2012.
The contestants are lionel Messi of Barcelona, Xavi Hernandez o f Barcalona as well and Christiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid
If Messi can win again this year, he will have won the poy award for 3 years in a row, which would put him in the same category as Brazilian Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane. Messi has scored 31 league goals as Barcelona won the Spanish title, as well as 53 goals for all of 2011. Ronaldo and Messi are tied for the number of Spanish league goals during this season with 17 each.
Best coach award-
The coaches in the running are Real Madrid's coach Jose Mourinho, Man-U's Alex Ferguson and Barcelona's Pep Guardiola
Best goal-
Waynne Rooneys amzing over head kick ( bicycle kick) is in a good spot to win this award. Along with Rooney are Messi and Neymar
